Hello, and thank you for considering us for your block machining services. We want to make this experience as headache free as possible. Custom Engine Machining has many variances depending on the condition of your core. Please include the information sheet with your contact and block info. We will inspect the block for quality before we machine, and this takes non refundable labor; for example cleaning, crack detection and pressure checking. Please send in your most Premium Core for your build; and not your most destroyed. You receive back the block you send us. If the line bore is out of spec, we will require a new core or a line bore service which can be expensive. Ultimately you want to send in a good line bore, and we generally can handle the rest within the general quote.

Melling Performance Sleeves and Pins Explained
There are many ways to strengthen a block for high power and boost. We specialize in Pinned Deck Conversions, which is an economical way to bluster open deck blocks compared to CNC Soild Deck Conversions. After stabilizing the deck, we convert the cylinder to a stepped sleeve design with Melling Performance Sleeves. We completely remove the top of the aluminum cylinder and replace it with a ductile iron step, where the head gasket fire ring crushes down. This aides in a superior head gasket finish on MLS style head gaskets. The step sleeve also aides in keeping the sleeve from ever "dropping" as the step is the main support for the sleeve height. Melling Performance Sleeves are replaceable, but need to be machined to fit the piston once installed. This makes for a repairable block which is great for racing and experimental tuning. We also can add larger head studs, O rings, and also leave .001" protruding sleeve for keeping the head gasket sealed during high power.

We also can install Darton Race Sleeves which are even more robust than MellingPerformance Sleeves. Darton Race Sleeves are much thicker and can be prorated into our blocks. We machine Darton Sleeved blocks on the CNC machines, which are quoted different than these particular blocks we can do on our traditional machines (which is limited to what you see here).
